The Carmel Group’s 2006 Telecom Capex study reviews the capital expenditure trends of 18 of Western Europe’s leading telecommunication companies and provides capex projection for 2006 through 2008.

This report is ideal for: CEOs, CFOs, Telecommunication Hardware Providers, Telecommunication Software Providers, companies seeking competitive analysis of the European Telecommunications market place.

Executive Summary Excerpt:

The purpose of this 2006 capital expenditures (capex) study for Western European countries is four-fold:

• To quantify European telecom companies’ investments in tangible and intangible assets during the years preceding and following the burst of the telecom bubble;

• To gain insight into the type of equipment and licenses acquired since 2000 by these telecom companies;

• To determine the extent of European telecom companies’ investments, since 2000, in markets outside their domestic jurisdictions; and

• To study, calculate and produce projections of capex spending for the 2006-2008 time-frame.

Overall, in 2000, telecommunication companies throughout Europe invested significant capital to upgrade their networks, purchase new equipment, and acquire licenses for advanced services. Post 2000, however, European telecommunication companies’ capital expenditures slowed significantly, as they spent less on acquiring licenses and new equipment and focused their efforts instead on managing their networks and improving cash flow.
