Sean Badding is the President and Senior Analyst for The Carmel Group, whose main areas of expertise includes cable, satellite, video-on-demand, digital video recorders, interactive TV and broadband.
Mr. Badding’s career as an analyst and editor began with Paul Kagan Associates, where he focused on the consumer electronics and multimedia industries. Also while working for Kagan, he served as a consultant, performing numerous appraisals and valuations on radio/TV stations throughout the country and overseas. Between 1995 and 1998, he focused on the semiconductor and PC industries, working as a Strategic Market Analyst for Mitsubishi Electronics and Hyundai Electronics in the Silicon Valley. During the last twelve years, Mr. Badding has consulted with many Fortune 500 companies to support their competitive, technical and financial positions within their respective industries. Clients have included Sony, Intel, Microsoft, DirecTV, TiVo, Bear Stearns, Sirius Satellite, AT&T and Starz Encore.
Mr. Badding’s research and analytical experience have been used in many national TV and radio broadcasts, including being a guest speaker on CNN, CNET, TechTV and Korea’s YTN. He also moderates and speaks at various conferences, including the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA), Private Cable and Wireless Show and the Ohio Cable Telecommunications Association (OCTA). Mr. Badding’s analysis and experience have often been cited in numerous national financial publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Investor Business Daily, USA Today, Fortune, Forbes, Business Week, U.S. News and World Report, The New York Times, CBS MarketWatch, Wired, and The Los Angeles Times. Mr. Badding holds a B.S. degree in Business Finance from California State University, Long Beach
